Revitalisation of Dúbrava village

problematic situation

The village of Dúbrava in the Spiš region (Slovakia) suffered from the siltation of sediments from water erosion, which resulted in deteriorated hydrology of small watercourses in the cadastre of the village and a potential threat to the water reservoir Ružin on the Hornád River.

Goal of the Project

The goal of the project was to improve the hydrology of the small watercourses in the village and at the same time to build a pond that would serve as part of a community recreation area and make the town environment more attractive for local residents.

Implementation

The municipality of Dúbrava has implemented a system of water protection through more than 200 nature-based water protection measures. At the end of the implementation, a recreational and municipal pond was also built. 27 local unemployed people worked on the project. The total cost amounted to 120 thousand €.
