The Botanical Garden of the Tatras High Mountain Flora in Tatranská Lomnica (Slovakia) suffered from artificially planted high mountain Tatra flora, which could not develop sufficiently due to the higher temperatures. This fact reduced its attractiveness for tourists and the number of visitors was relatively low.
Goal of the Project
The aim of the project was to improve the water regime and microclimate in the Botanical Garden. The project focused on bringing water into the garden, creating water areas and revitalising old areas in order to improve the microclimate and temperature regime and thus increase the attractiveness of the place for visitors.
Implementation
The project resulted in the construction of two water areas – the Rocky Spit and the Green Spit, as well as the creation of a waterfall to create sound effects. Streams and a water intake from the Water Forest were also created. Along with this, resting areas were created for visitors to spend more time and get to know the flora of the Tatra Mountains.
