THE KEY TO GLOBAL SECURITY? TRANSFORMING A DRY LANDSCAPE INTO ONE FULL OF LIFE

We now understand that the disappearance of small water cycles isn’t caused by human use of land for economic purposes, but rather by a long-standing failure to grasp a simple truth: rain stops falling in places where less water evaporates from the land. Even economically used land can support water evaporation if governed correctly.

We outlined the principles of rainfall loss and regeneration in the New Water Paradigm, under the title WATER FOR THE RECOVERY OF CLIMATE, published in Slovak in 2007 and in English in 2008 (www.waterholistic.com/water-paradigm/). The Paradigm is now also available in Korean, Italian, Persian, Polish, and French. A Spanish edition is in preparation.

The core principle of the New Water Paradigm is this: do not channel rainwater into streams, rivers, and oceans. Instead, support its evaporation and help create new rainfall. In the Paradigm, we also published basic models and an outline of how to rehydrate deserts; from ocean coasts deep into continental interiors, and how to support rainfall creation even in the world’s driest inland regions.

That’s why we are thrilled to see the Semicircular Terrestrial Barrage system being implemented, for example, in desert rehydration efforts in Tanzania, starting around six years ago.

We had long discussions about whether to copyright the Paradigm. In the end, we decided that humanity has the right to free access to this knowledge, both in word and in writing, even though people often fail to appreciate what’s given for free. That’s why the published Paradigm carries no copyright. We’re doing our best to freely share this message with everyday people.

New initiatives aiming to restore lost water to small water cycles give us hope that we can still reverse the danger looming ahead. That’s why we closely monitor these efforts and do our best to support anyone who seeks our expertise.

There’s much work ahead to fix what we’ve damaged through ignorance. We need to mobilize millions of willing hands to tackle the greatest challenge of the 21st century. Please, let’s not give up. This is our chance for a safe future. Water is humanity’s greatest lever for security – let’s not waste this opportunity.
